The traditional gauze swaddle blanket is made out of a single large square piece of soft, lightweight, breathable fabric, usually cotton or muslin. One corner of the swaddle is then folded in to make a triangular shape, before being wrapped around the baby to make it easier to secure the swaddle in place with the use of velcro or a tie. Because the swaddle is frequently used throughout the early months of a baby's life, it is often designed to be adjustable to account for a growing baby.
